In 1285 Peralada was burned by the arrival of Philip III of France and the defence of Peter III of Aragon. Ramon Muntaner one of the Catalan chroniclers explains it in his own way, and how certain historical figures lived it, as Na Mercadera. Its reconstruction led to the current Peralada but it was not at all easy to rebuild from the ashes, without money and with a devastated society. How did they do it?
