Catalan National Holiday

10/09/2017

In Peralada and Vilanova we celebrate the Catalan national holiday over two days. On the 10th September in the centre of Vilanova the community come together to enjoy barbecued 'botifarras', (traditional Catalan sausages), various desserts and 'cremat', a type of rum served flaming. The desserts are provided by the supper guests and include an assortment of cakes, flans, biscuits etc.

The 13th September, we pay homage to the older generation with a special lunch that finishes with a performance and a dance to celebrate the end of the festival. During this event we take the opportunity to honour those members of our community who are entering their 90th year.
