The Living Nativity

Every year at Christmas the people of Peralada take part in a representation of different scenes in the life Jesus Christ, all within the grounds of Peralada's majestic castle.

This 'Pessebre Vivent' (living manger) is particularly noted for its demonstration of traditional trades, such as basket weaving, embroidery, spinning, and carving. The stone mason, the blacksmith, the baker and the celebrated Catalan figure 'la castanyera' or chestnut vendor are also represented amongst others.

Days 2019-20: 22, 25, 26 and 29th december 2019 and 1st of january 2020
