Maria Alzamora is a photographer, graphic designer and illustrator. She lives between cities: Figueres, Barcelona and Leeds (United Kingdom). She was born in Ordis (Girona). She’s been drawing since she was a kid, but it wasn’t until she was 15 that she started this artistic journey. Her work was first a way to relate to her surroundings and with time it also became a way to understand herself better. She loves to observe how musicians look at each other while playing, to brainstorm about what’s the best way to represent a message, to draw during hours while waiting in trains and airports. She loves everything related to visual arts, personal expression and communication. “Every story needs its channel”.
“The Out of place series comes up from pain and frustration. After many months suffering from a knee injury and struggling with my body, there’s a will to reconcile, to see me as one and even to love me with the pain. In order to do this, first of all you need to let go of rage and the feeling of not knowing how to inhabit the body; or rather, how to manage it. I’m out of place and I keep looking for my centre.
